My Reiki Story
I have been a professional Dancer/Actor/Singer on and off Broadway for the past 20 plus years. One of my first jobs in NYC was dancing in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. No, I wasn’t a Rockette. I am only 5’4” which is 3” shorter than the end of the line. I was, however, a dancer in the chorus and I loved it!
Part of that job was wearing a 30lbs bear costume in point shoes dancing on a stage made of steel. Needless to say, I found my body hurting and in need of some care. A fellow dancer pointed me in the direction of a massage therapist by the name of Jimmy Horvath. I called him up, made an appointment, and planted myself on his table. He then asked if I was interested in just massage or massage and Reiki. I had never even heard of Reiki but I said, “Give me the works!”.
Well, I stepped down from that table forever changed.
Not only did my body and skeleton feel amazing, I felt a shift - an opening - in my spirit. I felt an overall sense of wellbeing and confidence in my place in the world. I was hooked! Over the next 20 years I continued to see Jimmy for physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing. Sometimes I saw him weekly but sometime I’d go a year between visits. I have managed to survive 20 years as a Broadway dancer without suffering any serious injury and I credit much of that to the healing power of Reiki.
In 2017 I finally decided that I needed to know more about Reiki and how the energy worked. I trained under Jimmy and received my Reiki I and II Degrees, using these practices to help myself and those around me. During the summer of 2021, I received my Master Level Attunement, taking me to the highest level of Reiki practice.
I since have honed my own style of treatment incorporating my experience as an artist, a mother, a vegan, and an empath. I love introducing people to this magical style of healing and my goal is to make it accessible to anyone who seeks it. I am always grateful for the opportunity to aid in someone’s path to wellness!
